In Bute Park you will find one of the most eclectic and historical castles in Europe. Behind the walls of Cardiff Castle you will find a jumble of ruins dating back to the Romans, Norman’s, Victorians and even some weapons left over from the Second World War.  When you look at the massive walls surrounding the castle you can see some differences in color and style. That’s because the walls were built and rebuilt by the three main inhabitants that ruled the country over the many centuries. The Romans, for example, built most of the solid wall structure, the Norman’s built the solid keep and it was all restored by the Victorians. It was the third Marquess of Bute that hired architect William Burges to breathe an extravagant new life into the old medieval color and romance of the bygone era.

The Welsh are, as they should be, proud of their history so naturally there is a wonderful museum dedicated to the struggles and victories of this resilient nation. The National Museum of Cardiff tells the story of Wales from the earliest signs of human existence to the more modern industrial revolution.  With a vast collection of plants, rocks art, archaeology and zoology you should really set aside at least half a day to see it all. The museum even brings in classical musicians from the world renowned Royal Welsh College of Music. The concerts are free and they are breathtakingly stunning. Just think, in a few years, you will have to pay to hear these future musical masters.

Promenades, restaurants, shops, stunning panoramic views and carousal can only be found at the Cardiff Bay. The largest waterfront development in Europe means that there is an abundance of leisure actives for any visitor. Cardiff bay is a great place to do some shopping, have an overwhelming  choice in restaurants representing the multicultural nature of Cardiff, and take picture of the most gorgeous bay in Europe. What would a trip to the seaside be without a trip on a tour boat? Spend a couple hours taking in the nature and coastline of Cardiff that will leave you friends full of envy.

One of the world’s most iconic arts and cultural center is the Millennium Center. Since it opened its doors in 2004, it has played host to some of the most recognizable theatrical shows such as Momma Mia and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Millennium Center is one of the most unique theaters in Europe but past the amazing exterior, which has been featured in TV show Dr. Who, is a bustling and vibrant interior. Plays, ballet and contemporary dance performances have wowed audiences. There is always something playing so make sure you stop by the Millennium Center for an amazing night of performance and art.
